This tall-growing species in named after Max Leichtlin, a plant enthusiast from Germany. Under favorable conditions, these bulbs grow very well and form compact groups. One cultivar, C. leichtlinii ‘Alba’, is pure white, while A. leichtlinii ‘Caerulea’ has light blue flowers.
